No Life To Live / No Love To Give

Again, my Record of the Week is a day late. Oh well, who cares. Anyway, this week's choice is the debut seven inch from Dublin City's Frustration. I have a lot of sentimental attachment to this record, it was the only record I purchased when I went over to Europe. I got it when I saw these guys with Famine, IRONCLAD and Crowd Control in Dublin.

I really like this band, it's kind of along the lines of No Warning / Guns Up! tribute. They are an Irish band however they are fronted by the infamous Nelly, who is actually from Canada. He always tells me he hates this record, and the new tracks they have recorded (especially the pre productions I have heard for their new record) blow this out of the water.

Anyway, this is limited to 200 copies or so I believe. Released by a label called Championship Vinyl. I am not sure if that is an actual label or not, but the name is a great reference. It's pressed on Blue vinyl. Look out for this band, BIG things are coming!

Trials and Tribulations

My record of the week is a day late, sorry about that. This week it is the first vinyl release I ever purchased. The second release from Worlds Apart, a self titled 7inch. I really enjoyed this release at the time, and I really like Trials and Tribulations (which they put out on CD before this). I only got to see this band twice and both times I think I was the only person there who cared.

This came out on No Agenda Records, which I believe is the bands label they used to put this out. It came out on Black, Clear and Coke Bottle Blue, I own all three copies, I only took photos of the clear copy because I am lazy / I always like clear records.

Record Of The Week

Considering I have a decent sized collection, I thought this would be a good way to post through some of my favourites. Every Tuesday I am going to present my 'Record of the Week'... The first of which is this, Distal by Crash of Rhinos.

I first found out of this band through my friend Chris. He told me he thought I might like them, and he was damn right. I heard the tracks from this record on the internet and ordered the vinyl as soon as it was announced. When this came in the mail I was ecstatic. Not only are the songs amazing, the layout/packaging is spectacular. It is a double LP release, which comes with a nice two page insert booklet and a wrapping cover.

I really like the wrapping cover, it's a very simple green cardstock with a really nice texture and a strong black print, the reverse is only half sized and has a printed tracklisting. The insert is equally impressive, the outside/cover pages are made up of a collection of photos of the band, and the inside contains lyrics and some other information.

This was released, I believe, by a French label called Triste. From what I have translated from their website there were 300 copies pressed, 150 were distributed through the label and the remaining half was given to the band. This was only pressed on black, and I believe it is now sold out.
